Barcelona set to break 53-years European defensive record

A Look At The 53-years Defense Record Barcelona Set To Break

As things stand, Barcelona is set to break and set a new record for fewest goals conceded per game across a league campaign in European.

Barcelona defense line have been solid this season conceding only nine times in their 26 La Liga matches played so far with the average of 0.346 goals conceded per game. This defense record move them to the top of the best defensive records ever in the top five leagues in Europe.

They are close to the record set by Cagliari back in the 1969/70 season. Cagliari in 1969/70 season played 30 Serie A games and conceded 11 goals. With 12 games left for Barcelona to play this season, even if they concede more goals than that Cagliari side, they could beat the record.

If they concede four more goals, they would still beat the record and end with a goals conceded per game rate of 0.342, better than Cagliari’s 0.367.
