Chelsea defeat Tottenham 4-1 to stake claim as the Kings of London

Chelsea picked up an important 4-1 win against London rivals, Tottenham to move up to 10th on the Premier League table on Monday night.

The Blues started the game the worst of both sides, and were punished after just six minutes, when Dejan Kulusevski’s deflected shot beat Robert Sanchez to give Tottenham the lead.

The hosts continued to press Chelsea, and almost got a second goal just moments later, with Heung-min Son tapping into Sanchez’s goal from a delicious cross down the left, but the effort was ruled off for offside by the South Korean.

The Blues however sprang back into life after 20 minutes, and did score a couple of goals that were disallowed. Raheem Sterling found the net from a tight corner, but the effort was ruled out for a handball, while Moises Caicedo also got an effort ruled out for a Nicolas Jackson offside just moments later.

The game took a crazy turn in the 33rd minute when Cristian Romero was shown a straight red card for a nasty tackle on Enzo Fernandez inside the Tottenham 18-yard box. Chelsea were then awarded a penalty that was clinically converted by Cole Palmer to get the Blues level before the break.

The second half was equally as enthralling as the first, and things got even better for Chelsea, when after 10 minutes of play, Udogie received a second yellow card for a foul on Sterling.

With Spurs down to 9 men, Chelsea were completely dominant, and scored three brilliant goals through Nicolas Jackson to end the home side’s uneaten run this season.

The Blues will be happy with this win, as it will surely give them some momentum as they prepare to face league leaders, Manchester City next.
