Chelsea faces the challenge of defending against the league’s top dribbler with a backup full back

Chelsea’s weekly injury report continues to reveal frustrations every week, and this week it’s the status of Malo Gusto.

There was some talk about him picking up an injury last week after he wasn’t in the squad to face Newcastle, but it’s only today that the official report from Chelsea has confirmed that’s the case. We don’t know how bad it is, and we assume Mauricio Pochettino will be asked for more information in his press conference later.

The bad news in the short term is that it leaves us without an option at right back this weekend. Reece James’ silly suspension for his red card last week looks even worse in this context.

So once again it will be Marc Cucurella or Axel Disasi out of position on the right. Very much a case of “pick your poison” for the Blues as they look to take on the league’s best dribbler, Kaori Mitoma.
