Good News as Chelsea makes Victor Osimhen their top target for January transfer

And the player wants to join!

Chelsea have made Napoli striker Victor Osimhen their top target for the January transfer window, according to reports.

Nicolas Jackson is currently Chelsea’s top scorer with seven goals in all competitions this season but Mauricio Pochettino’s side have struggled to put their chances away in games this term.

Chelsea have previously made an approach for Ivan Toney, however, they face strong competition from Arsenal and Brentford are holding out for an £80 million transfer fee.

According to The Telegraph, Pochettino is keen for Chelsea to recruit another striker and Osimhen is currently at the top of the club’s shortlist.

The report also claims that Osimhen is interested in joining Chelsea, despite their lack of Champions League football.

Napoli, however, are set to demand a transfer fee in excess of £100 million.

During an episode on his The Obi One Podcast earlier this month, former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel directly urged Osimhen to make the move to Stamford Bridge.

‘We’re crying out for him,’ Mikel said.

‘You look at our Chelsea team, we’re not playing that great at the minute but then we lack goals, we lack a striker who can run into spaces, who can create.

‘I was watching Darwin Nunez for Liverpool, he had about 11 shots and all the runs he made, he created those chances by himself because he was running in behind.

‘That’s something Victor will give us at Chelsea, a striker who is really willing to run behind, obviously those passes will come through and he will get goals

‘I think we’re crying out for goals, if he comes to Chelsea I think it will suit him really well because we don’t have anyone doing that right now so there’s not going to be too much pressure on him coming into the club because obviously we need that, we’re crying out for that.

‘You know, my advice is for him to come to Chelsea.’
