Chelsea on the verge of significant contract breakthrough, positive news expected
It’s Monday morning, Chelsea have 3 points in their back pocket from the weekend, and for once we have the chance to look forward rather than backwards.
Givemesport’s Monday Chelsea roundup has some interesting news about some potentially very positive movement on the squad front. They report that Conor Gallagher is moving ever closer to signing a new contract, and that there has been “progress” on finally agreeing a deal to keep him at Stamford Bridge beyond 2025:
“There should be positive news on the horizon in terms of a new contract for Conor Gallagher,” Dean Jones wrote.
“Sources are suggesting that there has been progress on talks that could lead to an extended stay at Stamford Bridge. His current deal is set to expire in 2025 and Chelsea have been mulling over whether to offer new terms or look to sell him in January. Gallagher, 23, has started every Premier League game this season though, and indications now suggest he will end up penning fresh terms at Chelsea pretty soon.”
This tallies with our own Simon Phillips’ reports that things are positive in that direction too. If we can grab a couple more good results this week and top it off with the news that Gallagher (who got himself a silly red card yesterday) is staying for the long haul, there would be more smiles around Stamford Bridge than there have been for a while.
