Chelsea’s last victory over Manchester United and the ensuing iconic meme moment

Manchester United have been struggling for a decade now, and while Chelsea have had some bad patches in that time, the fact that we’ve not been able to win at Old Trafford in that period is really surprising.

Our last victory away at United, rather surprisingly, was masterminded by Rafael Benitez, who won a gritty game 1-0 in May 2013 to all but guarantee us Champions League football.

It was the last time we would face a team set up by Sir Alex Ferguson.

It was a real old school Chelsea line up, with the Mourinho old guard fading out and the new era coming in. The team was: Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Cole, Azpilicueta, Mata, Ramires, Lampard, Ba, Oscar, Moses.

John Terry was on the bench, and not too happy about it…

Also a fun fact – this was the game where David Luiz grinned to the cameras as he lay on the floor having been kicked by Rafael, who was about to get sent off.
