Former Chelsea star impressed by one thing Robert Sanchez did against Brighton
Former Blues defender Jason Cundy was left praising Robert Sanchez for his involvement in Chelsea’s win against Brighton earlier on Sunday.
The Blues won the game 3-1, with Enzo Fernandez (2) and Levi Colwill the goalscorers.
Enzo’s second goal (and Chelsea’s 3rd) came from the penalty spot after Mykhailo Mudryk was fouled during a Chelsea counterattack.
The Ukrainian, who was sent through on goal by Nicolas Jackson, was shoved and kicked by James Milner, just as he was about to pull the trigger.
However, the move that led to that moment was started by Sanchez, who immediately rolled the ball to Raheem Sterling for a quick Chelsea attack after coming out to claim a Brighton corner, and Cundy has now showered the shot-stopper with appreciation for his intelligent thinking.
He said on Chelsea’s 5th stand app: “Can we please give Robert Sanchez a huge amount of kudos for that goal. He was the one that came and claimed it (the corner). I felt that perhaps he should hold it. No.
“He rolls the ball out to Raheem Sterling, who in turn gives the ball to [Nicolas] Jackson, who then puts it to Mudryk, and then it ends up with the penalty. That has come from bright and intelligent play from Robert Sanchez.”
