Latest Chelsea news and transfer updates

Latest Chelsea news and transfer updates include a boost for Victor Osimhen, pressure on Pochettino, and an update on Nkunku

Another week begins for Chelsea and it’s a big one as the pressure on Mauricio Pochettino begins to mount again after a hugely disappointing loss to Newcastle on Saturday. The result leaves Chelsea in mid-table for a bit longer and it’s the inconsistency in performances that is starting to anger many.

Pochettino will be hopeful of having two more key players back in the coming weeks though as Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia take their next steps towards a return. We’ll have the latest on them as the Blues look ahead to taking on Brighton.

It’s also just over five weeks until the January transfer window and plans have started to emerge. Reports suggest that not only will Ivan Toney be pursued as an answer to the striker problems but that Victor Osimhen is also still on the list of targets and has even taken top spot.

The Nigerian is also said to be in a position to consider a move to Stamford Bridge so watch this space. If anything comes from him then we’ll be all over it, right here!

Pochettino pressure

Reports have emerged that the Chelsea owners are still looking for the club to finish in the top four/five this year with Champions League being their aim.

The Blues are currently 10th and already 10 points adrift of their rivals at the top of the table. Pochettino also has a growing number of doubters in the fanbase after an inconsistent start.

Injury update

Caicedo and Colwill both returned to the Chelsea squad on Saturday despite doubts over their fitness.

Nkunku and Lavia missed out yet again but there is hope they will be back in the coming weeks, perhaps even to be an option from the bench against Brighton.
