Liverpool advised to copy Chelsea when they play Man City; here is why

Liverpool hero, Danny Murphy has told his former club they can borrow a leaf from Chelsea when they come up against league leaders, Manchester City this weekend.

Chelsea played out a thrilling 4-4 draw with the reigning champions just before the international break, and that game has been adjudged to be a classic.

Chelsea were particularly praised for going toe-to-toe with Man City, who are ordinarily known for tearing defences apart, instead of sitting back and hoping for a lucky break. It was a well-planned approach from Mauricio Pochettino’s side, and Murphy believes Liverpool can do something similar.

“The 4–4 thriller at Stamford Bridge gave Liverpool a clue about how to get joy against Manchester City,” he told the Daily Mail.

“When Man City pushed their defenders up and Chelsea were able to get a turnover, the speed of Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Jackson was a real threat.

“Chelsea exploited it last week and Liverpool are even better. They have players in midfield who can pick the right pass if their forwards are on a run.”
