Pochettino clarifies Palmer’s absence in Chelsea win

Cole Palmer has been arguably Chelsea’s best player this season, but the attacker did not start in his side’s 3-2 win against Brighton & Hove Albion yesterday.

His manager Mauricio Pochettino explained why before the game, with Chelsea’s official app sharing his comments.

Cole Palmer has made 11 appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea this season, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

The 21-year-old joined Pochettino’s side from Manchester City during the summer, and Blues legend John Obi Mikel thinks he has looked like a completely different player since making the move.

Will Cole Palmer start against Manchester United?

Chelsea have another tough game coming up, with Pochettino’s men travelling to Old Trafford on Wednesday to take on Manchester United.

Considering that, Pochettino will want to put his strongest team out, which means Palmer is likely to start.

The former City star was fit enough to make the bench for the Brighton win and did actually come on, so he should be able to play the full 90 minutes or the majority of the clash with United.

Erik ten Hag’s side will be desperate for all three points after losing 1-0 to Newcastle United over the weekend, but Chelsea really need the victory to keep their slim chances of qualifying for the Champions League alive.

After that, they face Everton, which could be another tricky game. Chelsea’s recent record at Goodison Park is not the best.

The above is why Pochettino will need his best team for these upcoming Premier League fixtures, which includes Palmer.
