Mauricio Pochettino reveals his strategies to counter Erling Haaland’s influence during the game; Find out

Mauricio Pochettino was asked some very specific questions in yesterday’s press conference, and he came back with some satisfyingly specific answers.

The threat of Manchester City’s striker Erling Haaland was raised, as well as the question of how to stop him, as the main goalscoring threat for tomorrow’s opposition.

Pochettino wasn’t afraid to give his thoughts on the best way to slow down the Norwgeian:

“You need to run faster, focus and try to anticipate him. You have to be clear how you are going to defend in the box because he is tall. You need to jump before him,” the Chelsea manager explained.

Ultimately though, the best way to stop Haaland is just to stop City getting the ball to him, and that means being brave and pushing up.

We’re sure we’ll see attacking intend from Pochettino’s setup tomorrow, simply because to set up to defend and allow Haaland the freedom of the box is suicide.

It will be vital to get the ball forward regularly ourselves and drag him away from our goal as much as possible.
