Mohamed Salah open up about two former Chelsea stars as he names toughest left

The Egyptian was with Chelsea for a couple of years before he had to leave as a result of a lack of regular game time.

Since he moved to Liverpool, Salah has proven to be a world-class player, having helped the Reds to the summit of both English and European football.

The 31-year-old has most-certainly come up against some of the best left-backs in the sport during his time at Liverpool, but when he was asked to name the hardest one he has played against in the Premier League, he chose Chelsea’s former captain, Cesar Azpilicueta, who now plays for Atletico Madrid in Spain.

Salah told Sky Sports: “Azpilicueta was tough. I know in the end he ended playing right side but Azpilicueta was really tough.”

The winger also spoke about Chelsea great, Ashley Cole, who is arguably the best left-back in the history of English football, adding: “I played with Ashley [Cole], oh my god. The way he reads the game was unbelievable… He’s very smart. He’s not the tallest. He reads the game and he’s really tough.”
