‘My body warned me’ – Reece James shares lesson he learnt from injury woes
Chelsea skipper, Reece James has revealed that he’s a smarter football player having suffered from recurrent injury woes for three last three years.
The 23-year-old has missed approximately one year of football since the 2019-20 season when he first picked up a hamstring injury.
James has also missed more than two months of football this season alone, but the England right-back has now said he’s more aware of his body, and hopes that his days of being injured are over.
“There are times you feel things, but all you want to do is play. Then you push and realise something has happened,” the right-back told the official Chelsea website.
“My body gave me a warning, but I didn’t listen. I’m more aware now when something is screaming, slow down a bit.”
James was recently invited to take part in England’s matches against Malta and North Macedonia in the current international break, but the talented star turned it down because he wants to be fully recovered.
