New Record Set: Thiago Silva sets new Premier League record after Brighton win
Another record set: Thiago Silva sets new Premier League record after Brighton win
Thiago Silva seems to be getting better with age, just like fine wine.
The Brazilian has been unarguably one of the best defenders in the world for nearly the last two decades.
Silva is already 39, but his performances for Chelsea suggest he is somewhere in his 20s.
The centre back made amends for his poor display against Newcastle last Saturday by throwing in a solid shift when Chelsea welcomed Brighton to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
Not only did he make some great clearances and interceptions, his passing was as good as ever, as the Blues edged the tie 3-2.
Silva also made history for both Chelsea and the Premier League on Sunday, as he became the oldest defender to ever play in the division — overtaking former Middlesbrough man, Collin Cooper in the process.
This comes just about a week after Silva also became Chelsea’s oldest ever outfield player. He will now be looking forward to making more history for himself and Chelsea in the coming weeks and months.
