Pochettino reveals halftime message to Chelsea’s dressing room during Brighton victory
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino had a big role to play from the sidelines today in the crucial win at home to Brighton.
The Blues managed to secure a 3-2 victory over Brighton in the Premier League, but it was yet another chaotic game they’ve been involved in recently.
Chelsea may have held a 2-1 advantage going into the interval, but Conor Gallagher’s sending off for two yellow cards meant they played the second-half with only 10 men.
Thankfully, Mauricio Pochettino’s side managed to dig in and earn three precious league points.
Next, there’s away days at both Manchester United and Everton next week as December heats up.
Half-time message
Chelsea fans may enjoy hearing what their manager said inside the dressing room midway through the Brighton fixture.
“I told the players at half-time [after Gallagher’s red card], this is a massive opportunity and challenge for us to show we are a real team,” Pochettino told Sky Sports.
“We competed really well, we scored another goal with one less [player], and then we won the game, so we are happy and we need to use this kind of victory to try to build our confidence.”
In fairness, Pochettino’s team did seize the big opportunity to show they do have serious characte.
Mauricio Pochettino message to Chelsea players
We’d love Pochettino’s next message to his group of players to be about discipline.
The bookings are piling up now in terms of yellow cards. Meanwhile, that’s now back-to-back games when the captain has been sent off, with Gallagher following in Reece James’ footsteps.
