Reason Manager praises 6-goal striker’s progress
Mauricio Pochettino has been very faithful to Nicolas Jackson this season, and we saw another example of that on Sunday.
After a dire game from the team all around the week before, we expected a change up front. But Pochettino persisted with Jackson, and was rewarded by a bustling, battling performance from the Senegal striker, who has 6 goals this season.
Armando Broja is the alternative, but for the moment, Jackson has the manager’s faith. Dean Jones of TeamTalk yesterday wrote that the coach believes “Jackson is on the right track to becoming a more reliable goalscorer.”
He also believes that Broja “will get extended game time” before too long, and that Pochettino is a “big fan of his style of play.”
It sounds like the coach likes both of his options, and that’s before you even get to the returning Christopher Nkunku. With two games this week it feels very likely that we see each of the two forwards get a game, and that competition between them can hopefully spark some really good performances from both.
