Revealed: Chelsea could sell promising striker in January to make room for high-profile transfer

Chelsea could sell promising striker in January to make room for high-profile transfer

Chelsea may opt to sell Armando Broja in January in a bid to raise some money, and make room for the arrival of Napoli striker, Victor Osimhen.

This is according to a recent report by football.london, which also suggested that the Blues may be growing impatient with the Albania international.

Broja has struggled to find regular minutes at Chelsea despite recently returning from an ACL injury that kept him away for several months.

The striker has instead, had to play backup to summer recruit, Nicolas Jackson, and come in as a substitute in most matches. This was the case on Sunday, when Chelsea drew 4-4 against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge. After coming on in the second half, Broja earned Chelsea a late penalty that was converted by Cole Palmer after he was fouled by Ruben Diaz.

The 22-year-old has made just two starts this season, scoring a goal and winning a spot-kick so far.

West Ham were close to signing Broja back in 2022, but had their £30m offer rejected by Chelsea, with their former coach, Thomas Tuchel insisting he didn’t want to sell the forward.

David Moyes’ side may decide to pursue their interest in the player again, which would help Chelsea free up some money for another striker.

The Blues are reportedly scouting the market for another forward, with Napoli’s Osimhen said to be top on their list.

The 24-year-old will however, not come cheap. It is reported that the Serie A champions will demand a fee in excess of £100m to let Osimhen go after his goals led them to a first Scudetto in decades, last season.
