Two Chelsea key players out as two return for Newcastle match

Mauricio Pochettino has confirmed that two Chelsea players are unavailable to face Newcastle United. But two other Blues will return to action against the Magpies. And CFC striker Nicolas Jackson reveals his footballing hero growing up.

There was hope that Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia might debut for Chelsea against Newcastle. Although, neither are fit for the match. However, there is some good news:

Neither Levi Colwill nor Malo Gusto were named among the six injured Chelsea players to miss out, having recovered from knocks that kept them out of international duty.

Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson will recreate Cristiano Ronaldo celebration again

Jackson seems intent on continuing to score goals for Chelsea following a somewhat fortunate hat-trick versus Tottenham Hotspur. The Senegal international hasn’t had an easy ride at the beginning of his Blues career. The jury is still out as to whether he’ll make it as the eventual main man up front in west London. I suspect that he won’t make it.

Nevertheless, we have to give the 22-year-old a chance, or the benefit of the doubt. For now. Optimism also remains around Armando Broja; whether the Albanian gets his chance as talisman is yet another question altogether. My bet is that CFC bosses will bring a big name like Victor Osimhen. Or a capable Premier League centreforward such as Ivan Toney will arrive during the coming summer. Summer is coming!

But who was, Jackson’s favourite player whilst he was a lad? Ronaldo. Not the retired Brazilian attacker, the Portuguese legend. Of his admiration for the two-time Manchester United forward, the Blues man said that he “loved” Ronaldo when he was growing up. Jackson constantly wore a shirt which had his idol’s name written on because replica shirts were too expensive, he says. In addition to that, the ex-Villarreal hitman revealed that he and his group of friends would congregate to watch Real Madrid and the great No.7 play. Chels‘ supporters will be hoping that their player can emulate some of Ronaldo’s goalscoring heroics.
